If you're foolish enough to buy in this market you'll be very sorry at the upcoming blow off top. Markets change and most of the time have massive corrections. Especially when the plan is to shift the value of our dollar from housing to digital currency. Anyone who follows markets knows that you'd have to have more money than brains to buy right now. 30 percent of all homes are owned by aging boomers. They will soon be moving on to long term care and families homes. That's a massive increase in housing. People will stop coming here because they cannot afford a home or even rent and people will move away. Toxic mortgages are about to start hitting 3 fold. Demand is going way down in most major cities except those with a false bubble on top. When a false bubble pops the regular bubble implodes. Take that to the bank or don't and waste your money just to cry later that you "had no idea" Like it's not written on the wall.

You kind of oversold this city and for someone who is not familiar with it would create a false picture. The city is not a great one as you trying hard to picture it, but surely going slowly to a shity place after jt killed the energy sector. Something is really going bad in a large city like Calgary where thousands of people cannot find work, especially if you are a professional (even PhD) in oil and gas industry. Let's assume you have already few millions dollars in your account, Calgary is nothing like an European city where there is 24/7 entertainment going on. Comparing with that, Calgary is dead, not much to do here. I can tell for sure that if you have the money and move to Calgary you either are stupid or want to get sick every winter. Calgary is NOT a city to retire in, you will get cold and sick of it for sure. So, Calgary is a no-no city.

With all due respect and sincerity the only winners that walk away from all of this unscathed be it higher or lower housing costs boom or bust are the realtors and bankers they execute the buy and the sell and can walk away with the ‘not my problem’ card in their pocket. Make sure to do your research and not put yourself into a compromised situation cause in the end you’ll be accountable realtors and bankers make their money and walk away, they are just doing their job. Make sure it’s not a sales pressure decision and it’s a decision you can live with afford and prosper.
